Spring is almost at hand and we are getting many inquiries about outdoor events and weddings in particular, and yes, for 2020 weddings and beyond. Planning is everything.
We are asked a lot about locations and our feedback on it. We wanted to share with you some highlights on five of the most popular locations chosen by our Michigan brides and grooms.
Wineries: This is often a photographer’s paradise with the rolling hills and patches of color and all the open space. In Up North Michigan and Traverse City, a couple is almost spoiled for choice in terms of picking a winery. You will have to plan for weather depending on the season, and comply with ordinances or rules set forth by the particular winery and city or county.
The Big Back Yard: Almost every one of us know of someone or has a family member or friend who has that awesome backyard. Be it a farm, field, by the lake, at the cabin or at your grandparents Up North, there is certain charm that comes with an outdoor wedding done right in a beautiful, big back yard. Not to mention that location is half the cost of the wedding. So, don’t write off the right kind of back yard that easily.
The Beach: We are surrounded by the great lakes, and have easy access to great many lakes here in Michigan, and in the surrounding states. Lake beaches are an extremely popular location for summer weddings. Just be sure to plan ahead and well for your comfort and ease and for that of your guests.
Public Parks & Gardens: Again, plan well ahead! These book up fast and there are many ordinances and sometimes permits you need to apply for. However, it is well worth the extra effort. We have so many different and beautiful parks from Metro Detroit to the UP, the choice is endless. Again, plan for weather, terrain, and other features unique to the local landscape.
Country Clubs & Golf Clubs: Scattered around this beautiful state of ours, there is one to suit your every inspiration and photograph in mind. Again, these are popular locations for their outdoor scenic beauty and tend to get booked up fast, so plan ahead. Each venue has their own process and protocols.
